2007 VIRGINIA'S STRONGEST MAN

General Information

Venue: Brute Strength Gym, 836 Poplar Hall Dr.; Norfolk, VA 23502

Date: Saturday, November 10, 2007

Early Weigh Ins: Fri prior to meet from 6pm-8pm; Brute Strength Gym

Hotel: Doubletree Hotel, 880 North Military Highway, Norfolk, Virginia 23502.

$82 plus applicable taxes, per room, per night/single or double occupancy.

Entry Fee: $60

Divisions: Teenage [all age up to 19; one wt class]; Women [one wt class] Lightweight [225] and Heavyweight [225+]

Awards: 1st thru 3rd per division.

Events: EVENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

ATLAS STONES:

Middle Wt: 260, 280, 295, 315, 330

Heavy Wt: 295, 315, 330, 365, 390

Platforms: lightest stones [1st -3rd] approx. ht. at 5'; heaviest stones [4th and 5th] approx. ht 4'-4.5'

Time will begin and end at the whistle. 90 seconds time limit. The most stones loaded in the fastest time will win the event. Stones will not be thrown onto the platform; they will be loaded (as this is a safety issue for all concerned). Stones will be loaded in correct order which is from the lightest to the heaviest. The lightest stone will be 15 feet from the platform. The distance will decrease by 3 feet per stone up to the heaviest being at 3 feet from the platform.

56 LB. THROW FOR HEIGHT

Time limit:60 sec. 3 attempts. For Height. The competitor will stand still and pull a 56-pound weight over his head and release to clear the overhead bar. the spin technique will not be allowed.

Contest Rising Bar Rule: Rule states that if after 3 attempts within a 60 or 75 second time limit, at a given weight or height you fail to get a successful attempt, than the lifter is out and cannot proceed for another attempt.

STONE LIFTING

Overhead Press. Various weight and shape of boulders. Belts, Chalk

60 seconds time limit. The time will begin when the "start" signal is given by the ref. To constitute a "good lift": Elbows must be locked and the lifter must show control by standing motionless when the log is locked out. Intentional throwing of the log will be cause for disqualification. Head referee will only include the reps that he judges as a "good lift. Contest Rising Bar Rule.

v. No towel or other such object in belt.

vi. Standard power belt no built up or extra wide belts

vii. Arm Position - When log is pushed overhead the athleteís arms must be locked out or motion stopped if the athlete cannot lock out the arm. Athlete must wait until judge gives down signal for rep to count.

viii. Athlete's feet must be parallel and standing in an upright position.

ix. The athlete can clean and press, jerk press or continental and press the weight

xi. Any and all anatomical limitations preventing a lockout as described above must be demonstrated to the judge prior to the start of the event. This is solely the responsibility of the athlete.

CARRY & DRAG

Husafell Stone Carry & Chain Drag: 260lbs X 100 ft. & 500lbs X 50 ft.

Time limit of 90 seconds. The Stone will be placed behind the start line. Competitor will carry the Stone up field across the finish line with the stone and proceed back down field with the Chain Drag. The competitor must drag the chain over the start line to complete full distance. At all times, the athlete must drag the sled with hips and buttocks facing and \"square\" to the chain. Best distance with the best time. Starting position: The competitor\'s toes will be behind the starting line. Finishing position: The end of the chain must cross the finish line.

Any intentional throwing, dropping or slamming of equipment will result in the offending athlete's disqualification from the meet.Profanity will be cause for Disqualification.Coaches, Spouses, Significant Others, Family Members or Friends Will NOT Obstruct Officials and Score Keepers Only Athletes and their Coach are allowed in arena. Friends and Family must remain outside of arena for picture taking.No Exceptions
